In an empowering move for the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, 120 women received a boost towards self-employment and economic empowerment under the ‘Haske Jari’ scheme, led by Hon. Dabo Isma’il Haruna, the representative of Toro Federal Constituency.
Hon. Ismael Dabo, the lawmaker representing the constituency, disbursed a total sum of N6 million to the women in Zaranda, Jama’a district, with the aim of supporting their entrepreneurial endeavors and fostering self-employment opportunities.
Explaining the purpose behind the initiative, the Federal Lawmaker highlighted the scheme’s goal to provide financial capital to aid these women in starting their businesses, thus enabling them to become self-reliant and employers of labor. This move, he stated, aimed to alleviate the economic challenges faced by women within the local government, particularly during the current economic downturn.
Each beneficiary received N50,000, accompanied by a call from Isma’il Dabo to use the funds wisely, emphasizing the importance of prudent market interactions for business sustainability, especially in the current economic climate.
Expressing gratitude, some of the beneficiaries commended the lawmaker’s initiative and assured the responsible utilization of the funds for business purposes. They urged for more inclusivity in the program, believing that extending such support would significantly curb unemployment in the area.
It’s worth noting that this initiative follows a recent disbursement by Hon. Isma’il Dabo, where N12 million was distributed to 240 women in Lame and Toro districts. The previous support was aimed at empowering women in engaging in small-scale and petty trading, fostering self-reliance and sustainability.
