The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), commenced on April 24, 2025, with over 2 million candidates registered to participate. The nationwide computer-based test (CBT) saw positive feedback from supervisors and stakeholders who praised the orderly conduct of the examination across various centres.
A total of 2,030,627 candidates have registered for the examination, which is being conducted at approximately 700 CBT centres across the country. The exam, which began yesterday, will run until April 30, 2025.
At Lavogue British International School CBT Centre in Kurudu, Centre Administrator Ubammadu Akwuruoha expressed satisfaction with the overall process, commending the punctuality of candidates and the smooth operation of the exam without any technical glitches. “Everything went as planned. The candidates arrived on time, and the technology functioned well throughout the day,” Akwuruoha said.
In Madalla, Niger State, Emmanuel Ehikwe, the owner of Airmax Computer Institute, also shared his positive experience, noting that the examination began promptly at 8 am with a strong turnout of candidates. “The students showed up in large numbers, and the process went smoothly without any delays,” he said.
At Rosa Mystica Academy, a JAMB-accredited CBT cenytre, supervisor Salihu Mustapha commended the candidates for arriving early, contributing to the smooth running of the day’s two examination sessions. “We began accreditation at 6:30 am, and the examination started on time. The early arrival of the candidates ensured that the whole process was efficient and timely,” Mustapha noted.
Looking ahead, Mustapha is optimistic about the remaining days of the examination. “With the way things are going, I do not foresee any major issues. I commend JAMB for its thorough planning, which has contributed to the smooth conduct of the exam so far,” he said.
The UTME will continue with multiple sessions scheduled for the coming days, including three sessions on Friday and four sessions on Saturday. Supervisors and candidates alike are hopeful that the examination will proceed without incident, as all parties express confidence in JAMB’s preparations.
