Thirty-two business deals valued at over $3.5 billion were secured at the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum held in Bali, Indonesia. The event, which fostered significant economic cooperation between the two regions, also witnessed the signing of 16 business agreements between Indonesian MSMEs and African companies.
The announcement was made by the Director for African Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as shared in a statement by the Nigerian-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI).
Nigeria’s delegation was led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, who represented President Bola Tinubu. The Nigerian business delegation, headed by NICCI President Ishmael Balogun, facilitated the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the three-day event.
Country-specific forums, spearheaded by Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pahala Mansury, featured discussions on key sectors like mining, agriculture, renewable energy, health, and food security, with countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa participating.
The 3rd Nigerian Indonesian Investment and Trade Forum (NIITF 2024) was also held alongside the forum, with Yomi Benson, CEO of Sahara Energy Singapore PTE Ltd, delivering the keynote address. Other notable participants included Ricky Rahardja, Chief Marketing Officer of Oxytane International Ltd, Abdulazeez Salawudeen, CFO of Signature Global Real Estate, and Felix Ezejiogu, CEO of AfroKana Ltd, among others.
This event highlights the growing collaboration between Africa and Indonesia, with opportunities for MSMEs to expand through strategic partnerships across various industries.
