Abuja, Nigeria – The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) is partnering with the People’s Republic of China to launch a capacity-building program that will benefit no fewer than 3000 Nigerian youths. The Director-General of NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe, revealed this exciting initiative during a meeting with the Chinese Cultural Attache Lee Xuda at the Nigerian Culture House in Abuja.
Runsewe expressed his enthusiasm for the program, which aims to empower Nigerian youths with the ingenuity and creativeness of the Chinese in goods production. After his recent visit to China, he recognized the need to expose and train Nigerian youths in such an environment to equip them with essential skills and knowledge in various areas of goods production.
The capacity-building program will involve selecting youths from every state of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). State governments and the FCT will sponsor these selected youths to travel to China, while the National Council for Arts and Culture will facilitate and coordinate the training on various skill acquisition programs.
According to Runsewe, the skills acquired during the training will play a significant role in enhancing growth and economic development not only in their respective states but also in Nigeria as a whole.
In response, the Chinese Cultural Attache Lee Xuda praised the strong bilateral and economic relationship between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China. Nigeria is among the African countries that attract substantial investment from China. Xuda highlighted that economic and trade cooperation forms the foundation of bilateral relations, and China is committed to supporting Nigeria’s development with its abundant human and natural resources.
The Chinese delegation, including the Cultural Attache Lee Xuda, was later given a tour of the Nigerian Culture House by Director-General Otunba Runsewe.
The forthcoming capacity-building program presents a remarkable opportunity for Nigerian youths to acquire invaluable skills, foster economic growth, and strengthen the partnership between Nigeria and China, making it a significant step towards empowering MSMEs and fostering economic progress in the nation.
