Not Listening To Others
When you’re a manager or leader, it’s easy to get so caught up in your own work that you don’t make yourself available to your team. Even if you’re in charge, other people’s ideas are extremely valuable.
Individual Successes Are Not Recognized
You are only as good as the sum of your parts as a leader. Failure to recognize talent is a significant impediment; leaders who do not fully see their people generally do not see their talents because they only see them in one dimension.
Failure to Delegate
It takes a lot of effort to delegate, and it can be difficult to trust your team to do the work correctly. However, unless you delegate tasks, you will never have time to focus on the “bigger picture” that most leaders and managers are responsible for.
Being inaccessible
Every action taken by leaders has a human cost. Take the time to get to know your employees – their interests, birthdays, births/adoptions, pets, and other important milestones.
Failure to Define Goals
The big picture is important, and it is your job as a leader to define it. It is also your responsibility to ensure that your company is on track to meet the important goals you have set.
