President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare open the 17th annual Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) scheduled to be held in Abuja.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Bello, speaking at a media briefing said the President had personally pledged to participate in the August event to support it.

The Minister was represented by Agboola Lukman Dabri, his Secretary for Economic Planning and Revenue Generation.

He added that the government is presently launching initiatives to reform the ease of doing business in the nation and that the event would further promote the capital city as a destination for business.

Also speaking at the occasion, the President, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, said the theme of this year’s exhibition was “Creating an Export Ready Market through SMEs Digitisation”.

He claimed that digitisation presents SMEs with a number of chances to raise productivity, drive innovation, compete more fairly with larger businesses, and grow the non-oil export sector.

The fair continues to be a standard platform for brand establishment as it brings together various aspects of trade and industry, foreign ambassadors, business persons, decision-makers, business delegations, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

Since its establishment, the platform has acted as a reliable international trade avenue and a prospective market for more than 50,000 consumers in Nigeria.

According to Abubakar, digital tools reduce transaction costs for organizations by enabling better and faster access to information as well as communication between companies, suppliers, and networks.
