Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing future leaders by training over 1,800 youths in entrepreneurship and career skills during the 2023 campus edition of its #YouthEmpowered initiative. This initiative, part of the Coca-Cola HBC #YouthEmpowered program, aims to impact the lives of at least one million youths across 28 countries by 2025.
Commencing at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) and University of Lagos (Unilag) on December 12 and 13, 2023, respectively, #YouthEmpowered is playing a pivotal role in shaping a skilled and impactful next generation capable of driving socioeconomic development in Nigeria.
Olukemi Ogunsakin, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Specialist at NBC highlighted the significance of honing youths’ professional and entrepreneurial skills for meaningful societal contribution and nation-building. She emphasized NBC’s commitment to reaching other communities across Nigeria, starting with Lagos State University in the first quarter of 2024.
Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation’s Programme officer, Adedoyin Shittu, praised the partnership with NBC, emphasizing the joint effort’s impact on addressing youth challenges and creating a brighter and more inclusive future through shared values and collective action.
Mr. Alaba Olalekan, Dean of Students’ Affairs at Yaba College of Technology, extended his appreciation to NBC for choosing the college as the venue for the training. He recognized the significance of entrepreneurship and career employability training in empowering students for their professional journeys.
#YouthEmpowered, an initiative by Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, has already reached over 41,734 youths across 10 cities and nine campuses since its inception in 2017. The program has resulted in the establishment of numerous start-ups, contributing tangibly to Nigeria’s blue, green, and digital economy while transforming individual lives and broader communities.
