The Watershed Leadership Training, pioneered by the University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA), reaffirms its dedication to equipping members with essential entrepreneurship skills to enhance business growth. During the convocation ceremony for the inaugural cohort, UIMGA’s National President, Mujeed Adebayo Ibrahim, emphasized the need for the government to create a conducive business environment to foster economic stability.
Ibrahim highlighted that while the government cannot provide jobs for everyone, it can facilitate an enabling environment where individuals can leverage their acquired skills to establish thriving businesses, thereby becoming employers of labor. He stressed the importance of prioritizing security and power infrastructure, essential for attracting both local and international investors.
Adulhakeem Taye Badru, Chairman of UNIMGA Lagos Chapter, underscored the initiative’s objective to instill a positive outlook among members, encouraging them to identify opportunities amidst challenges. Ahmad Yahya, incoming Chairman of the Management Board, reiterated the program’s focus on capacity building, providing employability skills for current students and alumni, as well as resources for business expansion.
The program’s facilitators, accomplished professionals in various fields, aim to address financial challenges commonly faced by businesses by exploring cooperative ventures, joint ventures, partnerships, and banking solutions. Graduate participant Eng. Ademuyiwa Mikaheel Tijani shared his transformative experience, citing improved business restructuring and enhanced productivity as outcomes of the program.
The Watershed Leadership Training stands as a beacon of empowerment, nurturing entrepreneurship talent and advocating for a supportive governmental framework to spur economic growth and prosperity.
