The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has provided loans to 98 microbusiness owners in various Local Government Areas of Ekiti State as part of its efforts to alleviate poverty and promote wealth creation. The loans, distributed under the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Loan Scheme (MEELS), aim to support small-scale enterprises and boost the local economy.
The Director-General of NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, emphasized the government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities for youths and reducing poverty. Each beneficiary received N20,000 to enhance their microbusinesses, with a repayment period of one year after a three-month moratorium.
Fikpo commended the collaboration between the Ekiti State government and NDE in combating poverty, urging beneficiaries to utilize the loans effectively to improve their income-generating potential and contribute to economic growth.
