Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, has launched a social intervention program to support women farmers and persons with disabilities in the Southwest region, with over N60 million allocated for beneficiaries.

At the launch in Abeokuta, Mrs. Tinubu announced that 120 women from the six Southwest states would receive N500,000 each to boost their agricultural ventures, while N10 million would be disbursed to 100 persons with disabilities to recapitalize their businesses.

The initiative also aims to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to empower young female and male farmers, with 75% of beneficiaries being young female farmers.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun highlighted his administration’s efforts in women empowerment, including the Oko’owo Dapo scheme, which has assisted over 50,000 women, and the Ogun Broiler Empowerment Scheme, benefiting over 500 women agribusiness owners.

The first lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, emphasized the importance of supporting women in agriculture to improve the agriculture value chain and eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities.

Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, the South West Zonal Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative, encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the support judiciously to enhance the agriculture sector in their respective states.
