Nokia Partners with iSAT Africa to Boost Rural Connectivity in Liberia

Nokia has launched a strategic partnership with iSAT Africa to enhance rural connectivity in Liberia, aiming to bridge the digital divide and provide dependable, affordable network access to underserved communities. The initiative will span three years, covering 200 rural sites across Liberia.

iSAT Africa, a leading provider of broadcasting, rural connectivity, and satellite solutions in Africa and the Middle East, will utilize Nokia’s Rural Connect solution, which includes the AirScale radio portfolio, Massive MIMO radios, and remote radio heads. The deployment also features Nokia’s MantaRay Network Management solutions, offering a unified and automated view of the network to enhance monitoring and management.

Nokia emphasized the project’s potential to drive socio-economic development by expanding network coverage beyond major cities. The 200-site rollout is expected to enable mobile network operators to offer cost-effective, efficient solutions to rural areas, helping communities access critical services** that can boost social and economic progress.

Osama Said, Nokia’s head of customer teams in West Africa, noted that the partnership represents a critical step in reducing the digital divide. Rakesh Kukreja, founder and managing director at iSAT Africa, highlighted how the deployment will improve lives by enabling reliable voice and data services, connecting Liberia’s unconnected populations.
