Port Harcourt Refinery Begins Crude Oil Processing
Share

The Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) Ltd in Rivers State has officially started processing crude oil, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector.

Olufemi Soneye, spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), announced the development on Tuesday.

“Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing,” Soneye stated. “This groundbreaking milestone signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation.”

He extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari for their dedication to the project, noting their role in advancing Nigeria’s energy future.

Truck loading operations are also set to commence, with efforts underway to restore operations at the Warri Refinery, Soneye added.

This achievement comes after numerous delays in the refinery’s reopening, signaling a renewed push to revitalize Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
