INTELS Nigeria Limited, a leader in oil and gas logistics, announced that 62 women recently graduated from its Women Empowerment Project Scheme Synergy (WEPSS), bringing the total beneficiaries to 2,047 since the program’s inception in 2013.
The company also donated 500 garments created by the graduating class to its host communities, reaffirming its commitment to social impact and community development.
During the graduation ceremony, INTELS Managing Director, Pasquale Fiore, underscored the company’s dedication to empowering women and fostering global development.
“We believe that when we invest in a woman, we are investing in a powerful source for global development. Each year, we strive to support more women and equip them with tools to succeed,” Fiore stated.
He encouraged the graduates to leverage their newly acquired fashion design skills to excel in the industry while emphasizing the importance of giving back to society.
WEPSS, established to train women in tailoring and fashion design, aims to empower 5,000 women over 20 years. The program has held 11 graduation ceremonies since its launch, with the latest cohort receiving training, mentorship, and starter kits.
Recognition and Support
INTELS awarded the 2024 best graduating trainee, Obarijima Lewa, with N2 million and a starter kit, which included an industrial sewing machine and a steam iron. Additionally, 15 other top-performing graduates received starter kits to help them launch their careers.
The company’s Executive Director of Legal, Corporate Services, Contracts, and Compliance, Amaopusenibo Epelle, urged the graduates to use their training for personal growth and inspire others.
“You have an opportunity to showcase your creativity and become role models for other women. Develop yourselves further and make good use of the knowledge gained here,” Epelle said.
WEPSS Project Manager, Nancy Freeborn, praised INTELS for its unwavering support, noting how the initiative has transformed lives over the past 11 years.
