In his determination to comprehensively upgrade existing primary healthcare centers and construct over 8,800 new primary healthcare centres across all local government areas in the country for accessible and qualitative healthcare delivery with the provision of new social accountability mechanisms, the Nigerian President has approved the establishment of the National Health Fellows Program, with young Nigerian fellows to be engaged in all the 774 local government areas in the country.
The fellowship program is domiciled in the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) coordination office under the office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. The fellows will be recruited, remunerated, and equipped with appropriate tools to drive positive change in the health sector.
Eligibility requirements
- Must be between the ages of 25 and 35.
- Bachelor’s degree (health-related, IT, or social sciences).
- Demonstrable interest/ or Experience in Public health OR health-related NGO and partner organizations OR community projects that demonstrate leadership and initiative.
- Candidates must be available to participate full-time in the fellowship program.
- Candidates must be an indigene of the state being applied for.
- Candidates must possess smartphones with data capabilities i.e. for WhatsApp, Zoom etc.
- Recommendation from the University Dean OR NYSC place of primary assignment, or a respected organization demonstrating character and leadership.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and entrepreneurial drive
Benefits
Fellows will receive a stipend to support their participation and living expenses during the program.
