One Acre Fund to Host National Dialogue on Food Security in Nigeria
Share

One Acre Fund Nigeria has announced plans to hold a national stakeholders’ dialogue aimed at addressing critical challenges in the country’s agricultural sector and advancing collaborative solutions for food security.

Themed “Achieving Food Security in Nigeria: Bridging the Gap,” the high-level dialogue will convene key players across the agricultural value chain, including government agencies, private sector leaders, development organizations, and civil society representatives. The event, set to take place in Abuja this month, underscores the urgent need for a multi-sectoral approach to tackling Nigeria’s food security crisis.

Adetola Adegbite, Country Director of One Acre Fund Nigeria, highlighted the significance of the dialogue, emphasizing the need to empower smallholder farmers, who form the backbone of Nigeria’s food system. He noted that persistent challenges—such as limited access to quality inputs, weak extension services, market barriers, and financing constraints—continue to hinder productivity and resilience in the sector.

“The dialogue is an opportunity to bring all stakeholders to the table to drive real change through innovative policies, strategic investments, and knowledge-sharing,” Adegbite said. “Together, we can bridge the gaps and work towards a more food-secure Nigeria.”

The event will feature two high-impact panel discussions focusing on the state of food security in Nigeria, the impact of climate change, and key policy and investment gaps that require urgent attention. Experts will assess the nation’s agricultural landscape, explore climate adaptation strategies, and identify actionable solutions to enhance productivity and resilience.

Beyond addressing immediate challenges, the dialogue will also highlight investment and career opportunities in agriculture, with key takeaways compiled for stakeholders.

One Acre Fund, a non-profit organization supporting smallholder farmers across rural sub-Saharan Africa, provides agricultural resources, financing, and training to help farmers grow more food and build resilient communities. Through initiatives like this dialogue, the organization aims to drive sustainable agricultural transformation and ensure a more food-secure future for Nigeria.
