The Niger State Ministry of Communications, Technology, and Digital Economy has partnered with African Women in Tech Sales (AWITS) to equip women with technology sales skills, enhancing their participation in the digital economy.
Announced in a statement on Tuesday, the initiative focuses on empowering women with the expertise needed to thrive in technology sales, a sector projected to grow by 17 percent over the next five years. The programme aims to create economic opportunities, drive entrepreneurship, and strengthen women’s contributions to Africa’s digital transformation.
Commissioner for Communications, Technology, and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah, emphasized the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “Women in Niger State and across Africa mastering technology sales is more than just a career opportunity—it’s a gateway to global economic influence, innovation, and leadership. By equipping women with these skills, we are opening doors to new possibilities, enabling them to contribute to the continent’s digital transformation.”
The pioneer training session is set to take place on March 13, 2025, at the ICT Centre, State House, Minna. The ministry also commended Jennifer Jemedafe Salau and the AWITS team for their leadership in promoting tech sales among African women, calling for more states and institutions to support such initiatives.
AWITS highlighted that beyond skill acquisition, the programme seeks to establish a structured pathway for women to access job opportunities, build sustainable careers, and contribute to the global technology sector.
With projections indicating that the technology solutions market will surpass $5 trillion by 2026, tech sales present a lucrative and growing career path. This partnership reinforces efforts to position women at the forefront of Africa’s digital economy, ensuring they play a central role in the industry’s expansion.
