Ripple, a leading provider of crypto-powered payment solutions, has partnered with Chipper Cash to enhance cross-border transactions into Africa. The collaboration will integrate Ripple Payments, a blockchain-based solution designed to make international money transfers faster, cheaper, and more efficient.
Chipper Cash, which serves over five million customers across nine African countries, will leverage Ripple’s blockchain technology to enable 24/7 global remittances. This move is expected to reduce transaction times and costs, improving the efficiency of financial flows into the continent.
Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, Reece Merrick, highlighted the growing adoption of blockchain technology in Africa, stating that the partnership aims to provide a seamless and cost-effective cross-border payment solution. Chipper Cash Co-Founder and CEO Ham Serunjogi emphasized the potential of crypto-enabled payments to drive financial inclusion, expand access to global markets, and empower businesses and individuals across the region.
Ripple, a global leader in digital payment infrastructure, has processed over $70 billion in cross-border transactions. With this integration, Chipper Cash users will have access to Ripple’s extensive global payments network, allowing for faster and more affordable transfers.
The partnership comes at a time when Africa’s remittance market is expanding, with fintech and blockchain firms stepping in to address inefficiencies in traditional banking. Ripple Payments currently supports over 90 payout markets, covering a significant share of the daily foreign exchange market, and holds more than 60 regulatory licenses globally.
Chipper Cash, co-founded by Serunjogi and Maijid Moujaled, has revolutionized money transfers in Africa by providing a frictionless way to send and receive payments across borders. By integrating with Ripple’s blockchain-based network, the platform is expected to enhance financial accessibility and reshape the way money flows into Africa.
