The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has restated its commitment to delivering improved electricity services to customers through continued investment in infrastructure and workforce development. This assurance was made during a customer engagement forum held at the FESTAC Business District, where company representatives met with residents to address key concerns.
The forum, designed to foster open dialogue, provided a platform for customers to raise pressing issues such as technical challenges, inconsistencies in billing cycles, and delays in prepaid meter programming following a recent system upgrade.
Representing the company’s Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, the General Manager for Corporate Communications and Strategy, Mr. Babatunde Lasaki, highlighted several completed infrastructure projects. Chief among them was the installation of the new Chevron Feeder in Satellite Town, a development expected to enhance power distribution in the Festac District.
He further revealed plans by EKEDC to collaborate with independent power producers to expand electricity supply hours and progressively upgrade customers currently on lower service bands to higher, more reliable service categories.
Lasaki emphasized the company’s commitment to not only improving infrastructure but also deepening customer trust and participation. He called on residents to actively report illegal activities such as meter bypass and vandalism through the company’s whistle-blower channels, noting that such community-driven vigilance is essential to protecting electricity infrastructure and ensuring fair service delivery.
As EKEDC continues its system upgrades and partnerships aimed at strengthening supply, the company is positioning customer engagement and accountability as key pillars of its long-term strategy to transform the power distribution experience in its coverage areas.
