Young Nigerians now have a new opportunity to upgrade their skills and improve their livelihoods through a federal government initiative known as Skill Up Artisan Supa. Launched under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and implemented by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the programme is designed to equip artisans with modern vocational and digital skills to meet international standards.
The initiative offers free, fully-funded training in key areas such as solar panel installation, tailoring, plumbing, electrical wiring, welding, carpentry, phone repairs, POP design, coding, and graphic design. It aims to strengthen the country’s skilled workforce, address rising youth unemployment, and eliminate the reliance on underqualified technicians in sensitive sectors.
Beyond training, successful participants may also receive starter kits and certificates to enhance their employability or help them launch their own ventures.
The programme targets young Nigerians with existing basic artisan skills, but passionate newcomers eager to learn will also be considered. The goal is to build a generation of competent, job-ready professionals who can compete globally and contribute meaningfully to national development.
While registration has not yet commenced, applications will soon open through the ITF’s official website: (http://www.itf.gov.ng). Interested individuals are encouraged to prepare their documents and stay alert for updates.
This initiative represents a major push toward youth empowerment, skills development, and economic resilience. For those ready to skill up and stand out, this could be the pathway to a brighter, more secure future.
