Interswitch Launches PensionRemit to Simplify Employer Compliance with New Pension Remittance Rules
Share

Interswitch has unveiled PensionRemit, a fully automated digital platform aimed at helping employers comply with Nigeria’s recently introduced Pension Contribution Remittance System (PCRS), which came into effect on June 1, 2025.

Mandated by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), the PCRS is designed to streamline and standardize pension remittances nationwide. Interswitch PensionRemit, now an approved Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) under the new system, enables employers to manage the entire pension remittance process in one seamless flow from uploading contribution schedules to validating RSA PINs and Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), and completing secure payments.

According to Muyiwa Asagba, Managing Director of Commercial Inclusion at Interswitch, the launch reaffirms the company’s commitment to innovation and inclusive financial participation.

“Our focus has always been on removing friction and unlocking growth for businesses. With PensionRemit, we are delivering a digital infrastructure that empowers employers to meet their pension obligations effortlessly and at no cost,” Asagba said.

Interswitch’s Vice President of Sales and Account Management, Osasere Atohengbe, noted that PensionRemit was developed with the evolving needs of businesses in mind.

“We built Interswitch PensionRemit with employers and the future in mind, to address long-standing pain points in the pension remittance process. The platform equips both large organisations and small businesses with tools to comply efficiently with PenCom’s new mandate,” he explained.

PensionRemit offers several key features, including real-time RSA validation, automated audit trails with instant receipts, zero fees for employers, and a streamlined remittance process fully aligned with PCRS requirements. The platform also provides real-time delivery, schedule tracking, and confirmation capabilities.

Beyond employers, PensionRemit is built to integrate seamlessly with payroll software, human resource management systems, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools. This positions it as a valuable resource for service providers looking to embed pension compliance into existing business workflows.

The launch marks another step in Interswitch’s mission to enhance trust, transparency, and operational efficiency within Nigeria’s financial and regulatory systems.
