The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has received a major donation of food items from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to support disaster relief and strengthen humanitarian services across the state.
The donation marks a renewed effort to enhance emergency response capabilities in Taraba, particularly for vulnerable populations affected by crises. The items were officially handed over by the NEDC as part of its continued commitment to assisting disaster management bodies throughout the North-East region.
This intervention is part of the ongoing collaboration between the NEDC and the Taraba State Government, led by Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas. Officials said the partnership has significantly improved the state’s readiness and ability to respond to emergencies with speed and efficiency.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Audu Echuseh, the Director of Cooperative and Public Affairs, Sani Garba Maisukwati, expressed deep gratitude to the NEDC. He noted that the support would help SEMA better fulfill its mandate in delivering timely humanitarian assistance and reducing the impact of disasters on affected communities.
“We appreciate the NEDC’s support in our humanitarian efforts, which enhances our capacity to respond to emergencies and alleviate suffering in Taraba State,” he said.
The gesture underscores the growing role of inter-agency cooperation in tackling emergencies and strengthening resilience in states across Nigeria’s North-East.
