NIYEEDEP Disbursement Not Postponed, Beware of Viral Fake Circulars
Share

Despite widespread speculation and a viral circular making rounds on social media, there has been no official announcement from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD or the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalization Programme (YEIDEP) postponing the disbursement of funds under the NIYEEDEP/YEIDEP initiative.

The program, which promises financial support ranging from N50,000 to N500,000 to selected Nigerian youths, had earlier announced that disbursements were expected to begin from July 1st, 2025. However, this date was never fixed as the sole payment day. According to initial statements from program officials, disbursement could take place any time between July 1st and July 31st.

Currently, a fabricated circular is circulating on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, claiming that the process has been rescheduled with a new timeline extending into October. The so-called update includes an August 31st deadline for applications, account collation in early September, engagements with beneficiaries through mid-October, and eventual disbursement to Batch A by the end of that month.

Although the circular appears legitimate—featuring the correct logos and social media handles—it has not been endorsed or issued by either FMYD or YEIDEP. Trusted sources confirm that “neither the Ministry nor the program has released any communication suggesting a change in the original disbursement schedule.”

Applicants and interested youths are advised to remain patient and cautious. There is no need for panic, as the July 1st date only marked the beginning of the disbursement window. Any update or confirmation regarding fund disbursement will come directly from official channels.

As one youth advocate put it, “You should calm your mind down… Don’t give up, just hope as you always do.”

For now, beneficiaries are encouraged to ignore unverified information and await official updates from the FMYD and YEIDEP teams as the month progresses.
