A social enterprise, Kidpreneurafrica, has made plans to host the maiden edition of her capacity building project for kids dubbed – ‘Kidpreneur Pitch-a-ton.’
According to a statement by the organization’s founder, Juliet Vincent-Obi, the project is a capacity building initiative aimed at providing financial grant as well as Mini-Master Class in a child-friendly Business Academy which will empower Kidpreneurs in upscaling their businesses.
“We are seeking to foster conversations of Child entrepreneurship with the aim of contributing to the social, economic, and national development of children in Africa”. Obi says.
The statement also read that the Kidpreneur Pitch competition is targeted at children age 6 to12 who have been in business for at least one year who resides in Lagos, Nigeria.
“We believe that every child has a special talent and potential to make significant contributions in their families, society, and nation and we want to be at the forefront to advocate for and instill the spirit of entrepreneurship into them.
According to convener, the competition will give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their product or service and to test their entrepreneurial prowess and skills.
Explaining the process, Obi says “The Pitch-A-Ton is designed as a month programme incorporating pitching sessions and 5 weekends of mini-Master in Business Academy”
“Interested kids who meet the criteria will be required to fill an online application. The candidates selected from this pool will then send in a sixty seconds video pitch which will be screened by a credible panel of business experts to select five finalists.”
Further more, the statement says the five finalists will pitch at the grand finale physically where  the judges will select 3 winners for the financial grant for upscaling their business which will be aired on a National Television on 27th May 2021 which is Children’s Day.
