Firm Commits N40 Million to Digital Skills Scholarships for Nigerian Youth
Share

Start Innovation Hub, a prominent player in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, has announced a N40 million commitment to provide scholarships and discounts for digital skills training, in a bold move to close the country’s growing tech skills gap and empower its youth for global competitiveness.

In a statement released Thursday, the hub’s CEO said the strong interest from young Nigerians in accessing digital training opportunities has reinforced the organisation’s mission to foster inclusive tech development. Describing the initiative as a “game-changer,” he said it aims to build a future-ready workforce capable of driving innovation, reducing unemployment, and boosting entrepreneurship.

The training programs are built on a demand-driven curriculum shaped by industry insights and global tech trends. Participants receive hands-on, practical training led by experienced professionals, work on real-world projects, and graduate with tangible portfolios that position them for employment or self-employment in the digital economy.

With the N40 million funding, Start Innovation Hub expects at least 200 learners to gain full access to paid digital skills programs, while many others will benefit from discounted access. Courses cover a range of in-demand tech fields, designed to match current industry needs and bridge critical skill shortages.

Beyond individual empowerment, the initiative is seen as a strategic contribution to Nigeria’s broader economic growth. Johnson said the program would help diversify the economy, reduce reliance on traditional sectors, attract foreign investment, and unlock new paths for social mobility.

The scholarship and discount opportunities are part of Start Innovation Hub’s ongoing efforts to support inclusive innovation and ensure that Nigerian talent can compete globally.
