UpSkill Universe, in partnership with Google and HP Inc., has launched the 2025 ‘Skills for Business’ programme to empower 10,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria and South Africa with essential digital and business skills for growth and sustainability.
The initiative is set to directly train 10,000 SMEs and indirectly impact an additional 59,000 individuals by the end of 2025.
“Entrepreneurs across Africa are already driving change in their communities,” said Gori Yahaya, CEO of UpSkill Universe. “This programme equips them with the tools, technologies, and AI-driven insights needed to grow and scale in today’s challenging business environment.”
The training includes access to HP LIFE’s online platform and practical modules in:
Artificial Intelligence
Digital Marketing
E-commerce
These are tailored to help SMEs boost productivity, attract customers, and scale online.
Google brings deep expertise in digital strategy and growth for small businesses.
“Small businesses are key drivers of progress. It’s critical they have access to the right digital tools and skills,” said Kristy Grant, Head of B2B & Brand Marketing, Google SSA.
Michele Malejki, HP’s Global Head of Social Impact, noted that the programme supports HP’s mission to advance digital equity for 150 million people by 2030.
