The Bauchi State Government has unveiled the *Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Bauchi Initiative* in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), aiming to equip young people, civil servants, and entrepreneurs with essential technology skills.
At the launch, the state governor described digital literacy as a fundamental right, stressing that technology now shapes the global economy and offers opportunities to create jobs, reduce poverty, and compete internationally. He noted that with the right skills, people can generate value and income from anywhere, including their homes.
The program builds on NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and the National Digital Literacy Framework and is structured around three pillars. The *Informal Sector Program* will provide artisans, traders, and informal workers with digital tools to strengthen their businesses. Already, over 7,100 Digital Literacy Champions have reached more than 267,000 Nigerians nationwide. The *Workforce Readiness Program* will enhance employability by offering job seekers, graduates, and public servants practical skills for productivity in the digital economy. The *Educational Sector Program* will focus on schools, with a new Basic Education Digital Skills Curriculum scheduled for rollout in September 2025.
NITDA praised Bauchi for taking what it called a bold step towards becoming a northern hub for digital innovation. Officials highlighted the state’s youthful population and strategic location as key factors that could help drive digital transformation and economic diversification in the region.
