OPay Rewards Winners of Security Awareness Challenge with N1 Million Grand Prize

Fintech platform OPay has rewarded winners of its “My OPay Security Vote Challenge,” presenting cash prizes at its Lagos headquarters in recognition of participants who created viral content around digital safety.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the N1 million grand prize champions, whose short videos on Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook drew widespread attention. The campaign was launched in August 2025 to promote OPay’s seven in-app security features, including Scam Alert, Night Guard, Large Transaction Shield, Online Subscription Control, USSD Lock, Large Transaction Double Check, and Emergency Lock.

Udeng Bennet Etudo, who went viral on TikTok, described his win as “unbelievable,” while Instagram creator Akindele Boluwatife noted that beyond her personal win, she also encouraged others to participate, several of whom went on to secure prizes.

Speaking at the presentation, OPay’s Enterprise Marketing Manager said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to making financial services more inclusive while prioritising user safety. According to her, the challenge was not just about rewarding creativity but also about raising awareness of the tools that protect millions of Nigerians from fraud and risky transactions.

Since the launch of the challenge, thousands of Nigerians have taken part, with over 2,000 rewarded through weekly prizes amounting to more than N10 million, alongside exclusive OPay merchandise. The campaign has also amplified conversations on digital safety across online communities.

With the first set of grand prizes awarded, OPay says it is preparing for the next phase of the challenge, giving more Nigerians an opportunity to win while strengthening their knowledge of secure digital transactions.
