Farm for Health Africa (FHA) has announced the 2025 edition of the African Agro-Health and Export Readiness Conference, scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 30, in Lagos, Nigeria. The event, themed “Advancing Africa’s Health and Global Trade through Scalable Agro-Health and Export Standards,” is organised in partnership with NICERT and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
The conference aims to accelerate Africa’s transformation in food systems, food safety, and export competitiveness by bringing together stakeholders across the agricultural and trade ecosystem. Participants will include farmers, exporters, government agencies, certification bodies, researchers, AgriTech innovators, investors, NGOs, and consumer advocates.
Agriculture remains Africa’s economic backbone, employing over 60% of the population. However, persistent challenges such as pesticide residues, microbial contamination, poor traceability, and non-compliance with global standards continue to weaken the continent’s competitiveness. These issues not only endanger public health but also cost African countries billions of dollars in rejected agricultural exports annually.
The conference seeks to tackle these barriers by showcasing innovative food safety solutions, equipping farmers and small businesses with export readiness tools, engaging policymakers to strengthen agro-export policies, and fostering stronger partnerships across the agro-health ecosystem.
Expected participants include smallholder and commercial farmers, agro-exporters, government regulators, food safety agencies, certification bodies, cooperatives, research institutes, buyers, processors, retailers, NGOs, and development partners.
Farm for Health Africa, the organiser, operates a hybrid model that combines advocacy and training through its foundation with practical services such as seedling supply, traceability solutions, cold chain support, and value-added processing through its ventures. The organisation envisions a future where African farmers produce safe, healthy, and globally competitive food.
“Food is medicine, and Africa’s farmers are the first doctors. This conference is about equipping them to heal, feed, and trade with the world,” FHA stated.
Key speakers at the event will include Dr. Nonye Ayeni, Director-General of NEPC; Annabel Kamuche, GMD of NICERT; Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, DG of NAFDAC; Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, DG of SON; Engr. Sola Obadimu, DG of NACCIMA; Tunde Banjoko, Chairman of LCCI Agro-Allied Group; Amb. Abiodun Olaniyi, Executive Director of Agriquest Africa Network; and Blessed OLA Saint, Founder and CEO of FHA, among others.
The conference will take place physically in Lagos with hybrid participation options online. Registration is open at https://farm4health.africa/conference.
FHA is also inviting corporate organisations, development partners, impact investors, certification bodies, and agri-tech providers to support the event through sponsorship. Sponsors will gain exclusive brand visibility, connect with policy shapers and agribusiness leaders, and be featured in the Healthy Africa Video Broadcast campaign reaching millions across the continent.
