The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has instructed all accredited tertiary institutions across the country to begin updating and uploading student records on its Student Verification Portal in preparation for the 2025/2026 academic session loan process.
In a statement issued by its Strategic Communications Directorate, NELFUND said the early data upload is essential to ensure a smooth and efficient verification process once the student loan application window opens.
Institutions have been directed to accurately capture each student’s details using unique identifiers such as admission numbers, stressing that only students whose records are uploaded and verified by their schools will be eligible to apply for the loan.
The Fund reaffirmed its partnership with tertiary institutions as central to the success of the student loan scheme, which aims to expand access to higher education for eligible Nigerians.
“Only students whose records have been verified and uploaded by their respective institutions will be eligible to apply for the education loan,” the statement noted, urging schools to assign responsible officers to manage the process in line with issued technical guidelines.
NELFUND emphasised that timely collaboration is necessary to prevent any qualified student from being excluded when the loan portal opens for the new academic session.
