WSA Young Innovators Award 2026 for Digital Changemakers
Share

The WSA Young Innovators Award is now open to young digital creators under 26 who are building impactful technological solutions with real social or environmental value. This global competition, open to all UN and UNESCO member states, recognises digital products that are already active in the market and contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is a major opportunity for African youth-led startups, SMEs, NGOs, and innovators looking for international visibility, mentorship and access to a global network of impact entrepreneurs.

Who Can Apply

  • Young founders, teams, startups, NGOs, or individuals with a digital solution.
  • At least one founder and majority of the team must be under 26 (born on or after January 1, 1999).
  •  Solutions must be active in the market with proven impact, no prototypes or idea-stage projects.
  • Innovations can be mobile apps, web platforms, AI tools, games, SMS-based services, wearables, or interactive media.
  • Must contribute to at least one UN SDG (e.g. health, education, poverty, environment).

Benefits for African Youth & SMEs

Global Visibility: Featured on WSA platforms, catalogues, press, and social media.
Showcase at WSA Global Congress: Present your project to impact investors, experts, and international mentors.
Networking & Mentorship: Join a global community of digital innovators and impact-driven entrepreneurs.
WSA Winners Seal: A recognised credibility badge for investors and partners.
Access to Peer Innovations: Learn and collaborate with top young founders worldwide.

Why This Matters

Young innovators in Africa often develop digital tools addressing healthcare, agriculture, education, and financial inclusion. The WSA platform provides the international stage needed to scale those solutions beyond local borders, attract partnerships, and tap into global impact networks.

Application Tips

  • Showcase impact with real numbers or user reach.
  •  Clearly link your solution to an SDG (e.g. SDG 3 for health, SDG 4 for education).
Strengthen your pitch deck or website — judges review professionalism.
  • Highlight any press, partnerships, or community feedback.

How to Apply

Prepare the following before submitting:

  • A working link to your digital solution (website/app).
  • A clear project description explaining impact and SDG relevance.
  • Basic details on founding team (age compliance required).

Apply via the official WSA Young Innovators portal
