Lagos Targets N5bn in Sales as Tourism Ministry, NBC Fair Begins
Share

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the entrepreneurial community Naija Brand Chick, has announced the mainland edition of the Lagos Tourism Naija Brand Chick Trade Fair, with the state projecting N5 billion in sales from the three-day event.

Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, said the fair underscores Lagos State’s commitment to developing a people-centered creative economy that connects innovation, trade, and culture across its five administrative divisions.

Aregbe noted that the event forms part of the ongoing “101 Days in Lagos” tourism and culture calendar, a series of entertainment-driven initiatives aimed at boosting commerce, tourism, and community engagement. “We are deliberately leveraging entertainment to drive trade, inspired by the spirit of old Lagos, when markets came alive with music, performance, and community energy. Our goal is to empower between 100 and 150 vendors and help them achieve N5 billion in cumulative sales within three days. It’s ambitious, but we’ve put in the work to make it achievable,” he said.

He added that several months of planning, vendor selection, and marketing coordination have gone into organizing the fair to ensure smooth logistics and maximum exposure for exhibitors. According to him, the initiative goes beyond trade—it is about inclusivity, access, and shared prosperity. “We want every Lagosian to feel part of this growth story. Prices will remain affordable, and the environment will reflect the vibrancy and innovation Lagos is known for,” he assured.

Chief Executive Officer of Naija Brand Chick, Nelly Agbogu, praised the Lagos State Government for co-hosting two editions of the SME-focused initiative within a single year, describing it as a model for public–private collaboration. “This initiative is a game-changer that has empowered countless entrepreneurs, boosted visibility for small businesses, and shown that Lagos is deliberate about building a thriving SME ecosystem. I am proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to deepening this partnership to unlock even greater opportunities for entrepreneurs,” she said.

The fair, expected to attract a large turnout of buyers and exhibitors, is poised to serve as both a commercial and cultural experience, showcasing local brands, promoting small businesses, and reinforcing Lagos’ reputation as Nigeria’s hub for creativity, innovation, and enterprise.
