Archivi.ng Fellowship is a six-month fully funded programme designed for storytellers, researchers, and technologists who are passionate about reinterpreting Nigerian history through archives. The fellowship offers a ₦1 million monthly stipend, project funding, mentorship, and publishing support to help participants complete original projects that educate, challenge, or inspire.

About the Fellowship
The Archivi.ng Fellowship explores the theme “The More Things Change,” a two-year inquiry into Nigeria’s recurring patterns. Fellows are encouraged to work on projects that shed light on how the nation’s past continues to shape its present, whether by analyzing policy cycles, designing digital tools for historical context, or narrating stories of everyday Nigerians.

Why It Matters
Nigeria’s history is often fragmented or forgotten. The Archivi.ng Fellowship provides a rare opportunity for creators and thinkers to bridge these gaps by turning archival materials into accessible, engaging, and transformative work. The initiative is helping to reshape how Nigerians understand their history, culture, and collective memory.

Fellowship Tracks
• Storytelling: For creatives producing compelling narratives that connect Nigeria’s past to its present in any format, written, visual, or multimedia.
• Research: For researchers conducting deep, data-driven, or interpretive work that clarifies Nigeria’s social, political, or cultural patterns.
• Technology: For technologists building digital tools, apps, or interactive projects that make archives publicly useful and engaging.

Who Can Apply
• Open to Nigerians living in the country or in the diaspora.
• Applicants must be deeply curious about Nigerian history and able to produce high-quality, original work.
• Must have experience in research, storytelling, or technology.
• Must be self-driven yet open to collaboration.
• Should be comfortable using digital tools such as Notion and Slack.
• Projects must be achievable within six months and should draw from archival sources (newspapers, magazines, audiovisuals, or other materials).

Benefits
• ₦1 million monthly stipend (January – June 2026).
• At least ₦1 million in additional project support.
• Access to Archivi.ng’s archives, digital tools, and mentorship.
• Publishing, exhibition, or technical integration of final projects.
• Peer learning sessions and collaborative circles with co-fellows.

Selection Process
The selection involves two stages:
• Stage One: Initial screening based on eligibility, project ambition, alignment with the fellowship’s theme, and feasibility.
• Stage Two: Interviews with shortlisted candidates to assess their experience, commitment, and project execution plan.

Tips for a Strong Application
• Clearly define your project’s purpose, scope, and expected outcomes.
• Show how your work connects Nigeria’s past with its present realities.
• Demonstrate your ability to manage a project independently.
• Ensure your proposal is concise, original, and feasible within six months.

Application Deadline
Not specified (check the official website for updates).
