FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is an initiative designed to support grassroots organizations that are expanding access to quality education and sports for children in underserved communities around the world.

The Fund is a collaboration between FIFA and Global Citizen aimed at building a more equitable future where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. It mobilizes financial resources, partnerships, and global visibility to strengthen education outcomes through sport, culture, and community-driven impact.

Why It Matters
Across many parts of the world, children in underserved communities still face barriers to education — from lack of infrastructure and financial hardship to exclusion and limited access to extracurricular development like sports. The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund seeks to bridge this gap by empowering grassroots organizations that are already creating real impact on the ground.

For community-based groups, youth-focused NGOs, and local social enterprises, this Fund offers a vital opportunity to scale their work, improve learning outcomes, and strengthen community resilience through education and sport.

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, applicants must:

  • Be a registered non-profit organization within the country where the grant funds will be used.
  • Serve a community size ranging between 500 and 10,000 individuals.
  • Request an amount that does not exceed 50% of the organization’s annual budget for the proposed grant year.
  • Have a minimum of three years of certified financial records or audited reports demonstrating financial stability.
  • Be directly involved in implementing programs that enhance access to education or improve educational quality.

Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Financial Impediments to Education: The organization’s ability to reduce financial barriers preventing children from accessing or continuing education.
  • Educational Infrastructure: Efforts to improve or build learning facilities that create better, more inclusive educational environments.
  • Inclusive Practices: Commitment to equitable access for all learners, with special focus on girls, children with disabilities, and those from marginalized communities.
  • Child Safeguarding: Strong frameworks ensuring child safety, protection, and well-being within all program activities.

Benefits

  • Grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 USD to support eligible education and sports initiatives.
  • Capacity-building opportunities to enhance the organization’s long-term impact and visibility.
  • Connection to a global network of organizations advancing literacy, learning quality, and inclusive education.
  • Support to link sport, culture, and community development for measurable educational progress.

Tips for Applicants

  • Apply early and ensure all required financial documents are ready before submission.

  • Clearly define your organization’s mission, goals, and measurable impact areas in your proposal.

  • Highlight how your initiative links education and sport to address community needs.

  • Demonstrate sustainability by showing how your project will continue beyond the grant period.

  • Emphasize inclusivity , especially how your programs support girls, children with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

  • Review your application carefully before submitting to ensure compliance with all eligibility criteria.
