Share

The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms has launched the Tax Reform Challenge 2025, inviting Nigerian undergraduates and recent graduates (including those serving or awaiting National Youth Service Corps mobilization) to engage with the country’s evolving tax reform agenda by creating original content, articles, videos, podcasts, and social media posts that inform, critique, and raise awareness about Nigeria’s new tax laws.

 Who Can Apply

  • Undergraduate students in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, or colleges, and NYSC members/awaiting mobilization.
  • Entries may be submitted individually or via student clubs/associations in economics, accounting, journalism, or tax-related fields.
  • Acceptable submission languages include English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba (with English translation if not in English).

 Entry Requirements & Format

  • Review the recent tax reform laws and create a piece of educative, engaging, and fact-based content: article, video (<=10 mins), podcast, radio piece, or social media campaign.
  • Timeline for publication of your piece: 1 July – 31 December 2025.
  • Submit via the official portal (check the committee’s website) following the guidelines.

 Prizes & Recognition

  • 1st Prize: ₦5 million
  • 2nd Prize: ₦3 million
  • 3rd Prize: ₦2 million
  • Additional rewards: gadgets, internships, job opportunities, and appointment as Tax Reform Youth Ambassador. Finalist student associations may receive recognition grants too.

 Why This Matters

With Nigeria’s tax system undergoing major reform, this challenge offers students a powerful platform to:

  • Deepen their understanding of tax policy and public finance
  • Demonstrate their creative and analytical skills in shaping public awareness
  • Earn significant monetary prizes and recognition
  • Gain access to internship/job opportunities and a unique ambassadorial role in national tax literacy efforts

 Important Dates

While no fixed national deadline has been published yet, the official announcement cites the competition launch and calls for entries within the 2025 calendar.
Tip: Apply early and monitor updates via fiscalreforms.ng for submission details and deadlines.
