Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has graduated 75 participants from its ICT Academy, equipping them with advanced digital skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving technology ecosystem.
The graduates received certificates at the ceremony held at NECA House, Ikeja, Lagos.
The NECA ICT Academy is a flagship empowerment initiative focused on developing young Nigerians with globally relevant ICT expertise, closing the digital skills gap, and expanding employability pathways in high-growth tech sectors.
Participants underwent four months of intensive technical training across artificial intelligence, data analysis, Python programming, cyber security, and 3D animation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake, commended NECA for leading human capital empowerment that aligns with Nigeria’s future workforce demand.
“Digital skills are the currency that drives innovation and productivity. The NECA ICT Academy is a shining example of how partnerships can unlock opportunities for young Nigerians,” he said.
Chairman, Ikeja Local Government Council, Comrade Akeem Dauda, also applauded NECA and its partner Industrial Training Fund (ITF), saying the initiative continues to empower youths with skills relevant to enterprise building and national development.
Director-General of ITF, Dr. Afiz Ogun, represented by Ojo Akindele, urged participants to continually evolve their skills, noting that the speed of AI advancement requires lifelong learning.
Director-General of NECA, Adewale Smatt-Oyerinde, noted that 95 percent of previous participants have secured employment or built their own ventures.
“This programme is entirely free for participants including certification training, logistics support, and stipends ensuring access and inclusivity,” he said.
One of the graduates, Jubril Azeez Oladipupo, described the programme as a life-changing opportunity that has positioned participants for sustainable tech careers and enterprise.
