A Lagos State lawmaker, Adewale Adedeji, has received strong backing from monarchs, party leaders, and residents of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I following the success of his widows’ empowerment program, which benefited 500 people.
The event, held at Adedeji’s constituency office, marked the fifth edition of the initiative, which aims to support widows and vulnerable women through economic empowerment and social welfare assistance.
Community leaders and political stakeholders described the program as a testament to the lawmaker’s commitment to grassroots development. Deacon Banjo Omole, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, commended the party’s decision to field Adedeji, saying his performance had brought tangible benefits to constituents.
“We are happy today because we have not regretted having Adedeji as our lawmaker. We are proud of the impact he has made,” said Adebo Kayode, Leader of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Council.
Traditional rulers, including Oba-elect Matthew Ogundimu of Ogundimu Kingdom, also praised the lawmaker’s contributions to community welfare and empowerment.
In his remarks, Adedeji expressed gratitude to his constituents for their support, pledging to sustain people-oriented programs and development initiatives.
He announced plans for free health insurance registration for residents without coverage or with expired policies and disclosed that his proposed free adult literacy classes had already recorded over 100 applicants.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme lauded the initiative, describing it as timely support that has improved their livelihoods. They also pledged continued support for the lawmaker’s efforts to promote inclusive growth in the constituency.
