The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has launched the fifth and largest cohort of its flagship AIG Public Leaders Program (PLP), selecting 72 public servants from across Africa who have demonstrated exceptional performance in driving transformative reforms in governance and service delivery. The new cohort includes participants from Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, Cameroon, Zambia, Egypt, and Tanzania, marking a major milestone in the foundation’s mission to build a network of reform-minded leaders across the continent.

In partnership with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, the AIG PLP is a world-class executive education initiative designed to equip public sector leaders with the tools, skills, and global perspectives needed to deliver measurable impact in their institutions. The program combines classroom learning with practical capstone projects addressing real organisational challenges.

Since its inception in 2021, the PLP has trained 237 public sector professionals, advancing the foundation’s goal of developing 3,000 reform-driven leaders by 2030. Alumni of the programme have implemented reforms such as reducing patient wait times in public hospitals, strengthening financial crime prevention strategies, digitalising document tracking at the Central Bank of Nigeria, and introducing improved investigative procedures to protect suspects’ rights.

Participants in the new cohort will also undertake capstone projects aimed at addressing tangible challenges within their organisations. According to the foundation, such projects help translate learning into actionable outcomes, ensuring reforms reach communities and citizens effectively.

Executive Vice-Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, stated, “We are seeing proof every day that investing in people, in their capacity and leadership potential, delivers the kind of transformation that policy alone cannot achieve.” She added that the initiative not only strengthens institutional performance but also fosters career growth, with 62 percent of alumni reporting promotions, expanded roles, or other professional advancements after completing the program.

Through this empowerment initiative, the AIG Foundation continues to drive excellence in public service across Africa, fostering leaders who are equipped to implement reforms that improve governance, service delivery, and the lives of citizens.
