Dangote Group Backs Kano Trade Fair With New Focus on SME Growth, Market Expansion
Share

The Dangote Group has confirmed its participation in the Kano International Trade Fair holding from November 22 to December 6, 2025, signaling its continued commitment to enterprise development and regional market expansion.

The company said it is sponsoring and fully participating in the fair, which is expected to host more than a thousand exhibitors from within and outside Nigeria. A senior executive described Kano as central to the company’s operations and one of Africa’s most active commercial hubs. The city also hosts one of the large-scale rice mills currently under development by the firm.

The organisation added that additional rice milling projects are underway in Jigawa, Zamfara, Niger, Kebbi, and Sokoto, collectively delivering a milling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year. It said these investments support national efforts to strengthen food security at a time when local production is increasingly crucial for economic stability.

To improve engagement, the company announced that its subsidiaries will operate special help desks at the fair, allowing visitors and entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities, seek partnerships, and inquire about the company’s range of products. The firm will also unveil new sugar pack sizes of 100 grams and 25 kilograms on its Special Day at the event, in response to consumer and wholesale market demand.

This year’s fair carries the theme ‘Empowering SMEs for Sustainable Growth,’ which aligns with the company’s broader commitment to inclusive business development and national economic resilience. A senior adviser to the organisation noted that the sponsorship aims to give micro, small, and medium enterprises a platform to showcase their products, attract partners, and access new markets, which is essential for strengthening Nigeria’s economy.

The Kano Chamber of Commerce said the event will host around 100 organisations and more than a thousand exhibitors from Nigeria and across the world. The chamber highlighted improvements and expansions at the fairground and acknowledged the Dangote Group as a key sponsor and long-term supporter. It added that this year’s edition will deepen collaboration with the company on SME development, backward integration, and industrial skills transfer to boost local production capacity.

The fair is expected to play a significant role in expanding market access for small businesses, strengthening regional trade networks, and showcasing emerging opportunities across northern Nigeria and the wider African business ecosystem.
