Turkish Government Partner Abia State Launches Investment Empowerment Initiative to Strengthen Business Ties
Share

The Turkish Government and Abia State have launched a strategic investment empowerment initiative aimed at boosting business opportunities and fostering economic cooperation. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the three-day Abia-Turkiye Investment Summit and Product Exhibition in Umuahia.

Erdal Faitah Tozoghu, Commercial Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Nigeria, affirmed Turkiye’s commitment to building long-term partnerships with Abia State. “The steps we take today will build a bridge not only between two economies but also between two futures. We will do our utmost to be here again, with broader participation and even more Turkish companies joining us. Let us walk this road together with trust, respect, and shared ambition,” he said.

Governor Alex Otti described the summit as a platform to transform Abia into a hub for regional and global business activities. He urged investors to leverage the state’s skilled workforce, reliable electricity in Aba, extensive road networks, and peaceful environment. “My charge to you is to go into communities, interact with local business leaders, and identify opportunities that offer strategic business advantages to your team,” Otti stated.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr Salome Obiukwu, and the Special Adviser on Investment Promotion and Public Private Partnership, Chief Jerome Green-Amakwe, hailed the summit as a decisive step to deepen economic cooperation and unlock new opportunities for local businesses.

Partners of the summit, including Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni and Abiodun Aderohunmu of Vega Growing Global Enterprises, highlighted key sectors for investment such as textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing. They commended the state’s efforts to become a prime investment destination in the South East and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Abia’s economic growth.

The initiative is expected to empower local entrepreneurs, attract foreign investment, and strengthen the partnership between Abia State and Turkiye, laying the groundwork for sustainable economic development.
