Ebonyi State Launches One-Stop-Shop to Boost Ease of Doing Business and Support SMEs
Share

The Ebonyi State Government has unveiled the Ebonyi One-Stop-Shop (EBOSS), a centralised hub designed to streamline business registration, licensing, and other administrative services for entrepreneurs and investors, marking a key step toward improving the ease of doing business in the state.

The launch, held on Wednesday at the Staff Development Centre in Abakaliki, was performed by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Offia-Nwali, on behalf of Governor Francis Nwifuru. He explained that EBOSS aims to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles that have historically slowed economic growth, bringing essential services closer to citizens and providing easier access to regulatory agencies required for business operations.

Also in attendance were the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Prof. Chukwuma Uguru, and other senior government officials. Dr Stephen Odo, Director-General of the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EB-SEMEDIA), described EBOSS as a unified platform where multiple business-related services can be accessed seamlessly.

“EBOSS aligns with the governor’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda, strengthening economic development and improving service delivery,” Odo said. He added that the platform integrates digital services, reduces turnaround time for document processing, and enhances transparency, while promoting local and foreign investments, supporting job creation, and encouraging economic diversification.

Key agencies expected to operate from EBOSS include SMEDAN, FIRS, SON, CAC, NAFDAC, RMRDC, BOI, BOA, NEPC, and NIMC. Representatives from these agencies pledged their support and assured business operators of improved service delivery.

Dr Nnagozi Nwite of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) emphasised the importance of obtaining a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and encouraged compliance with tax regulations. Engr. Asiegbu Chukwudi from the Bank of Industry (BOI) confirmed that dedicated staff would be stationed at the facility to guide entrepreneurs on access to funding, product registration, quality control, and export documentation.

EBOSS is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, simplify regulatory processes, and empower small and medium enterprises across Ebonyi State.
