Call For Applications: FMYD Waste to Wealth Initiative; Circular-Economy Funding & Support
Share

The FMYD Waste to Wealth Initiative (W2W) is a national program launched by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in Nigeria. It aims to empower young Nigerians by providing training, resources, and start-up capital to convert waste into eco-friendly products or green enterprises. This is a timely opportunity for youths who want to build businesses that help the environment and generate income simultaneously.

FMYD positions Waste to Wealth as part of a broader circular-economy push under the programme umbrella often referred to as Circular Economy Youth Empowerment Initiative (CEYEI).

What the Initiative Offers (Benefits & Support)

Participants in Waste to Wealth may receive:

  • Training in waste management, recycling, upcycling, and circular economy entrepreneurship — equipping you with the know-how to transform waste into valuable products.
  • Access to start-up capital or support for waste-to-value business ventures — helping to launch or scale eco-friendly ventures (e.g. recycling, waste collection/processing, upcycled products, sustainable energy, etc.).
  • Job creation and green-job opportunities for youths engaged in waste collection, recycling, climate-smart production, and circular-economy services.
  • Support for climate action and environmental sustainability — the initiative links youth empowerment with environmental protection and waste reduction.
  • Formal inclusion in a national waste-economy ecosystem — transforming informal waste work into organised, regulated, and potentially profitable enterprises.

Who Should Apply / Eligibility

Waste to Wealth is designed for:

  • Young Nigerians (youths) interested in waste management, recycling, upcycling, or circular-economy business ventures.
  • Individuals or small teams willing to commit to training and work — potentially as waste-collectors, recyclers, artisans, or eco-entrepreneurs.
  • Those ready to adopt climate-smart practices and contribute to reducing waste, preserving environment, and promoting sustainability.
  • People who can access the initiative’s registration portal or official channels (internet access may be needed to apply). The initiative appears open to youth across Nigeria.

Given global and local efforts to reduce waste, lower emissions, and implement circular economy models, Waste to Wealth provides a timely platform for youth to lead sustainable change and build livelihoods.

How to Apply / Where to Register

To get started:

  1. Visit the official Waste to Wealth portal: 🔗 https://wastetowealth.fmyd.gov.ng
  2. Register using the online application form on the portal.
  3. Provide accurate information about yourself or your team, and outline your interest or proposed initiative in waste management, recycling or circular-economy business.
  4. Await communication from FMYD on training opportunities, startup support, or next steps through approved channels (official contacts or as listed on portal).
