A member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency has handed over 400 trading stalls to residents under the newly reconstructed Ayetoro Market, providing a fresh push for grassroots commerce and poverty reduction in the Lagos community. The stalls were delivered during the commissioning of the heritage market, which the lawmaker rebuilt and expanded to accommodate more small-scale traders.
According to a statement by his media aide, the initiative is part of efforts to uplift livelihoods through infrastructure that supports business activity. The lawmaker noted that the old market accommodated 200 traders, all of whom have now been reabsorbed into the upgraded facility, with an additional 200 new traders allocated space to start or expand their businesses. Local government chairman Surah Animashaun described the project as life-enhancing and urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the opportunity.
A community leader, Pastor Ojelabi, commended the lawmaker’s developmental interventions across education, health, agriculture and other sectors, saying the market reconstruction adds to an ongoing record of constituency-focused projects. For micro traders and MSMEs across the area, the expansion of trading space could stimulate commerce, improve income flow and support more structured market participation for women and small vendors.
