The Kaduna State Government is set to finalise an agreement with the Chinese Government on a $200 million Model Integrated Poultry Development Project, an ambitious agribusiness initiative expected to create 350,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate more than $450 million annually.

The Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the agreement follows extensive discussions in Nigeria with the Chinese Ambassador, Yu Dunhai. Governor Uba Sani was joined by a Federal Government delegation led by the Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, Mr. Joseph Tegba, underscoring the national importance of the project.

According to the statement, the project is designed to strengthen food security, accelerate agro-industrialisation, enhance exports, and position Kaduna State as a leading hub for modern poultry agribusiness in West Africa.

As part of his visit to Beijing, Governor Sani is expected to meet with China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and other strategic partners to consolidate investment commitments and deepen technical cooperation.

Speaking on the mission, Maiyaki said Governor Sani’s engagements reflect Kaduna’s commitment to attracting world-class investments that will drive transformative economic growth. He described the poultry initiative as a major step toward job creation, enhanced food production, and increased competitiveness for the state’s agribusiness sector.

He added that the administration remains focused on expanding economic opportunities, especially for young people, by strengthening partnerships that support sustainable development.

Maiyaki further noted that Governor Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Kaduna State as the pilot location for the flagship initiative and to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its continued partnership.

The agreement, once concluded, is expected to fast-track Kaduna’s emergence as a continental leader in integrated poultry production and agro-industrial development.
