Luno, AltSchool Africa Launch Africa’s Largest Crypto Education Program for 15,000 Nigerians
Share

Global cryptocurrency platform Luno, founded in Africa, has partnered with AltSchool Africa to offer fully funded crypto education to 15,000 Nigerians through a beginner-friendly course titled “Demystifying Crypto for Africans.” The program marks the largest crypto education initiative on the continent and underscores efforts to build trust in digital assets while promoting safer participation in the digital economy.

With one-third of Nigerians already engaging with digital assets and a growing young, tech-savvy population, the program addresses the knowledge gap by providing structured, practical, and secure crypto education. Combining Luno’s expertise in digital finance with AltSchool Africa’s experience in accessible online learning, the course tackles misinformation and financial risks associated with unregulated digital assets while showcasing real-world applications tailored to African users.

Set to begin in March 2026, the program will run throughout the year under the guidance of Web3 expert Abdulsamad Tiamiyu. It covers topics such as saving, remittances, global trading, and entrepreneurship, offering hands-on experience with wallets, exchanges, stablecoins, and research tools like CoinGecko and Etherscan. Learners will access course materials for up to one year, including self-paced video lessons, slides, quizzes, and case studies. Successful participants will receive an AltSchool Africa Certificate of Completion.

Ayotunde Alabi, CEO of Luno Nigeria, emphasized the program’s importance: “As crypto adoption grows, formal literacy must keep pace. Our collaboration with AltSchool Africa ensures Africans can participate confidently, securely, and sustainably, turning what is often seen as a risk into real economic opportunity.”

Adewale Yusuf, Co-founder and CEO of AltSchool Africa, added: “This partnership equips Africans with the knowledge and tools to understand and use crypto in practical, life-changing ways. It’s an investment in financial empowerment and the future of a continent ready to fully participate in the global digital economy.”

The program will run in three cohorts of 5,000 learners each: the first starting in March 2026, the second in July, and the third in November. Eligible Nigerian residents aged 18 and above can apply via the AltSchool Africa portal starting in January 2026. Applicants must have or create a Luno account, and scholarship decisions will be communicated within one week.

This initiative represents a major step in promoting digital literacy in Africa, equipping thousands of Nigerians with the skills to safely navigate and benefit from the growing cryptocurrency ecosystem.
