Call for Applications: AFD Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC 2026) Hybrid Acceleration for African Entrepreneurs
Share

The Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC 2026), led by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group Campus, is now accepting applications from impact-driven social entrepreneurs in East Africa. This hybrid acceleration programme supports founders whose ventures address energy transition challenges through social or environmental impact solutions.

Why This Opportunity Matters

As countries in East Africa pursue clean energy access, energy efficiency, and sustainable systems, impact entrepreneurs play a pivotal role in accelerating locally rooted solutions. SIBC provides a structured platform where founders can strengthen business models, prepare for scaling, and connect with networks and potential funders — all while advancing meaningful solutions in energy transition.

Since its launch in 2017, SIBC has supported nearly 350 entrepreneurs across Africa, helping them scale up operations, improve social performance, and prepare for investment.

Program Benefits

📈 Hybrid Acceleration Support

  • 6 months of online coaching combining interactive virtual classes, expert sessions, and peer collaboration.
  • 1-week intensive bootcamp in Nairobi, Kenya during the Africa-France Summit, offering immersive learning and ecosystem exposure.

💡 Mentorship & Networking

Entrepreneurs receive guidance from experienced mentors and engage with experts, investors, and partners — building relationships that can help accelerate growth.

🌍 Regional Ecosystem Exposure

Participation places entrepreneurs in a dynamic community of fellow impact leaders, amplifying opportunities for peer learning and collaboration across East Africa.

Who Should Apply (Eligibility)

Applicants should be social and/or environmental impact entrepreneurs based in one of these East African countries:

  • Kenya
  • Uganda
  • Rwanda
  • Ethiopia
  • Tanzania

To qualify, organisations typically need to demonstrate:
✔ Legal registration in the eligible country
✔ At least three years of active operations with a scalable project focused on energy access, clean cooking, renewable energy, energy efficiency, or related sub-sectors
✔ A proven impact mission and ambitions to grow beyond current reach

SIBC prioritises ventures that are ready to expand, measure impact, and strengthen pathways to sustainable scale.
