The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is accepting applications for its 2026/2027 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (OSS). This fully funded program enables qualified Nigerian graduates to pursue Master’s (MSc) and Doctoral (PhD) degrees at selected international partner universities, with full financial support for study abroad in technology and energy-related fields.

Why This Scholarship Matters

This scholarship helps build Nigerian human capital in petroleum technology, energy, and related sciences by supporting advanced education and research. It offers access to world-class training and research facilities at approved universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Malaysia, and through a split-site model with the PTDF College of Petroleum & Energy Studies (CPESK), Kaduna.

Scholarship Benefits

Selected scholars receive comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Full tuition fees for the chosen programme
  • Return flight tickets to/from the host country
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage
  • Bench fees where applicable (for research students)
  • Living and accommodation allowances throughout the study duration

This package allows scholars to focus fully on their studies and research without financial constraints.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility Criteria)

General Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens
  • Propose a course of study relevant to the oil, gas, energy, or petroleum sectors
  • Apply for programmes offered at PTDF-approved partner institutions
  • Hold a verified National Identity Number (NIN) before application

MSc Applicants

  • Minimum Second Class Upper (2.1) degree or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant experience
  • Completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
  • Computer literate
  • At least five (5) O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics
  • Submit a Statement of Purpose (maximum 500 words), explaining the relevance of chosen study and its expected contribution to Nigeria’s development

PhD Applicants

  • Completed NYSC
  • Computer literate
  • Possess at least Second Class Lower (2.2) in first degree and a relevant postgraduate degree
  • At least five (5) O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics
  • Submit a research proposal (maximum five pages) covering topic, background, objectives, methodology, and data collection plan

Required Documents

Applicants must scan and upload clear copies of:

  • First degree certificate or statement of result
  • NYSC discharge certificate
  • O’Level results (WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO) with PINs for verification
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Local government identification letter
  • Master’s degree certificate (for PhD applicants)
  • Evidence of membership in professional associations (if applicable)

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to present original academic transcripts during interviews.

  • Deadline: 27 February 2026 (applications submitted after this date will not be considered)
