Safety For Every Girl (SFEG), in partnership with MTN Nigeria, has launched a nationwide social media competition aimed at amplifying women’s voices on safety issues while encouraging solution-driven digital storytelling.
The initiative, titled “Her Safety, Her Power” National Social Media Competition 2026, invites Nigerian females aged 13 and above to share personal experiences and propose practical solutions to safety challenges through short-form video content.
Participants are required to create 60 to 90-second videos responding to the prompt, “The day I felt unsafe as a Nigerian female,” highlighting real-life experiences and offering ideas to improve safety for women and girls. Entries must be posted on Instagram, tagging @SafetyForEveryGirl and using the hashtag #HerSafetyHerPower. The competition runs until February 12, 2026.
A total prize pool of ₦1.25 million has been set aside to reward creativity, courage, and innovation, with ₦750,000 for the grand prize winner, ₦350,000 for second place, and ₦150,000 for third place.
The competition will culminate at the Safety For Every Girl Period Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in Lagos on March 6, 2026. The event will feature live showcases of finalist entries, the launch of The Power Awards recognizing impact in safety advocacy, as well as panel discussions with policymakers, corporate leaders, and cultural influencers.
Speaking on the initiative, Founder of Safety For Every Girl, Chioma Nwigwe, said the campaign is designed to turn personal stories into tools for change.
“By asking for their stories, we are honouring their truth. By asking for their solutions, we are investing in their insights. The prizes reflect the tangible value we place on their voices. Her Safety, Her Power is more than a theme; it is an operational principle. We are creating a platform where fear can be translated into foresight and personal narrative can fuel a national movement for practical, woman-defined safety,” she said.
SFEG noted that private sector partnerships play a critical role in advancing gender safety and youth engagement through digital platforms. Through the collaboration with MTN Nigeria, the organisation aims to position women’s safety as a key component of social and economic development, leveraging storytelling and innovation to drive collective action nationwide.
