In a bid to boost food production and empower young entrepreneurs, the Abia State Government has begun distributing interest-free loans to 302 youths trained in agriculture. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the state’s agricultural sector.
Announcing the development at a press briefing, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr. Okey Kanu, shared that the beneficiaries had completed specialized agricultural training at CSS Global Integrated Farms in Nassarawa earlier this year.
According to Kanu, the loan disbursement, approved by Governor Alex Otti in September, will be rolled out in stages, tied to the progress of each recipient’s agricultural venture. This phased release aims to ensure the effective use of funds.
The program underscores the state government’s commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural development while empowering youth for long-term economic growth.
