Accion Microfinance Bank has trained female entrepreneurs in digital skills to strengthen their businesses.
The bank announced this on Friday, stating that the initiative was part of the second edition of its Digital Skills Bootcamp for Women, held at its head office. The programme aimed to equip business owners with financial and digital literacy skills to enhance business growth, financial management, and access to funding.
Following the success of the first edition, this year’s boot camp featured industry professionals who provided practical insights into navigating the digital economy. Joy Nwalie, the bank’s Area Manager for Lagos West, led a session on financial literacy, stressing the importance of financial planning, investment, and savings. She advised participants on managing income, profit, and accounts to ensure business success.
Chief Digital Officer Paul Ehiagbonare spoke on digital finance transformation, highlighting how fintech solutions promote financial inclusion. He urged entrepreneurs to embrace digital banking for secure and seamless transactions, emphasizing strong passwords and safe online practices.
Fashion designer and external facilitator Bolatito Ogunseye guided participants on leveraging digital platforms, social media, and e-commerce for business growth. She advised them to focus on online marketing and tailor content to their target audience for better visibility.
Participants welcomed the training, with online wig vendor Cecilia Ugomma describing it as enlightening, saying she now understands the importance of financial records for loan applications. Fishery business owner Omotola Ajala also noted that insights on housing loans would be useful for her ongoing projects.
