The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is calling on young African talents and aspiring professionals to apply for its prestigious 2025 Internship Program,a six-month opportunity designed to equip future leaders with practical experience in trade finance, policy, and economic development.
Though unpaid in the traditional sense, selected interns will receive a tax-free monthly stipend of $1,000, with an additional $500 housing allowance for those relocating from outside the host country.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be aged 20 to 32 at the time of application.
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program in a recognized institution.
- Be studying relevant fields such as economics, finance, accounting, law, engineering, statistics, or the social sciences.
- Demonstrate fluency in English or French (knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage).
- Provide a recommendation letter from their academic institution for the internship period.
Eligible candidates include:
- Citizens of Afreximbank member states
- Individuals of African descent in the diaspora
- Non-Africans aligned with Afreximbank’s mission
Program Details
- Internship Duration: 6 months
- Start Dates: January and June annually
- Locations: Primarily at Afreximbank’s Cairo HQ, with possible placements at offices in Abuja, Harare, Abidjan, Kampala, Yaoundé, or Bridgetown
- Support Provided: $1,000 monthly stipend + $500 relocation allowance
Interns will be assigned to departments that align with their academic and career interests, undergo mentorship, and participate in a structured induction and rotation program.
At the end of the internship, a detailed report on key learnings and future applications must be submitted.
